A two-story single-family home on the Malaga coast

The interior designer Alberto Torres signs the interior design project for this 131m2 duplex penthouse distributed over two floors located in Torremolinos, Málaga. The main objective of this project was to create a cozy and functional space that would allow the owners to enjoy the Malaga coast and its surroundings.

KEYS TO INTERVENTION

Cleanliness, clarity and order as a common thread
The owners, coming from a country with low temperatures, were looking for a warm and welcoming decoration that would make the most of the natural light of the sun to escape the feeling of cold environments in their native country, so one of the most important premises of the intervention has been the use of natural light.

Functionality and well-defined spaces. When planning both the spaces and the decoration, priority has been given to the use that will be given to the house, which was to become the owners' vacation home, but adapting the attic area to be able to rent it out for the rest of the year and thus make the investment profitable.

Functionality and the definition of spaces were fundamental aspects in the approach of the project. Well-defined and separated spaces were created, with outdoor seating areas on the terraces and an interior area that connects with the outside through color and light.

Exclusively Mediterranean colors. The use of light and fresh colors such as white, blue and gray in various shades has been prioritized to recreate a coastal atmosphere. To achieve a subtle balance of textures and materials, it has been combined, occasionally, with metal, glass and porcelain. In the bathrooms, stone-effect coverings have been introduced to provide some warmth.

Regarding the general decorative style, the owners wanted to highlight three materials above all: steel, glass and stone. From the studio we enhance the elegance of stainless steel, the freshness of glass and the natural stone effect of porcelain tile on the floor of the home, resulting in a sober, elegant style, without much color, in which the natural light of the Mediterranean is reflected within the entire home.
